On 22 October 2021, the Government announced the establishment of a regional banking taskforce to assess the impact of bank branch closures on regional communities.
The Taskforce brings together banks and other key stakeholders to assess how bank branch closures have impacted local businesses, industries and communities and work collaboratively to identify possible solutions.
This consultation seeks comments on the impacts of regional branch closures, how Australians are accessing banking services and potential solutions for maintaining and improving banking services and accessibility where branches have been closed.
You can submit responses to this consultation up until 18 December 2021. Interested parties are invited to comment on this consultation.
While submissions may be lodged electronically or by post, electronic lodgement is preferred. For accessibility reasons, please submit responses sent via email in a Word or RTF format. An additional PDF version may also be submitted.
All information (including name and address details) contained in submissions may be made available to the public on the Treasury website unless you indicate that you would like all or part of your submission to remain in confidence.
