This paper outlines a new digital competition regime proposed by the government.
The regime aims to promote competition in digital platform markets. It will address conduct that:
- is anti‑competitive
- creates barriers to entry
- exploits market power to harm Australian users of digital platform services.
The paper seeks views on the proposal, focusing on:
- the framework and legislative approach – including in‑scope and priority services
- the designation process – to make sure the regime is targeted
- obligations for designated firms
- enforcement and compliance mechanisms.

You can submit responses to this consultation up until 14 February 2025. Interested parties are invited to comment on this consultation.
