Treasury conducted a review of the amended unfair contract terms (UCT) laws.
Changes were made to strengthen the existing UCT protections in 2022. The reforms:
- improved the range of remedies and enforcement powers
- expanded the class of contracts covered
- made the law clearer and stronger.
The review looked at how the provisions are operating. It considered whether any changes are needed.
The review found that the 2022 reforms have been broadly successful.
