The Coronavirus SME Guarantee Scheme was established to support up to $40 billion of lending to SMEs, including sole traders and not-for-profits. Under the Scheme, the Government guarantees 50 per cent of new loans issued by participating lenders to SMEs.
Phase 1 of the Scheme is available for loans written by participating lenders until 30 September 2020. To enable continued support for businesses in recovery, and for those facing the ongoing impact of the pandemic, the Government has extended the Scheme to be available to loans written until 30 June 2021. Lenders who would like to participate in Phase 2 of the Scheme are invited to submit an Expression of Interest by completing this form. Submissions close on Friday 16th October 2020.
To assist with your submission, please note that under ‘Section 6 – Supporting documents’ you will need to download and complete the EOI Questionnaire and if applicable, the Securitisation Questionnaire. Completed Questionnaires are required to be uploaded at Section 6, before this EOI form can be submitted and assessed.
You can preview the list of EOI questions. Please note that you may not be required to answer all the questions.
If you are unsure, please seek appropriate legal advice. Subsection 5(2) of Guarantee of Lending to Small and Medium Enterprises (Coronavirus Economic Response Package) Act 2020 requires that the guarantee must be in connection with loans made, or to be made, by a financial institution that is a corporation within the meaning of paragraph 51(xx) of the Constitution.
2.4 If approved as a Participating Lender under the Scheme you will have ongoing reporting requirements to APRA. View an example of reporting requirements related to the Scheme. Please note that this is a draft document and not the finalised APRA reporting requirements for Phase 2.
View the requirements on how to report data to APRA. You will need to complete a registration form and have a myGovID set up for your ABN.
Please complete the EOI Questionnaire and, if applicable, the Securitisation Questionnaire. Once completed please upload your response document and supporting documents here.
Note: If you are a current Participating Lender as part of the Government’s existing Coronavirus SME Guarantee Scheme, you are ONLY required to complete section 2 in the EOI Questionnaire. If you are not a current Participating Lender, you are required to complete ALL sections in the EOI questionnaire.
