Key Documents

We welcome feedback on a proposal to address unfair trading practices. We are considering amending the Australian Consumer Law to add:

  • a general prohibition that is principles‑based
  • specific prohibitions targeting certain unfair practices.

The paper also seeks information on the likely:

  • benefits to consumers
  • compliance costs for businesses.

This paper builds on an earlier consultation about the nature and extent of these practices in Australia.
