On 16 December 2024, the Australian Assistant Treasurer and the New Zealand Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs signed a revised Australia and New Zealand Government Electronic Invoicing Arrangement.
What the arrangement aims to do
The arrangement supports the adoption of eInvoicing by:
- maintaining a common approach across both countries
- creating an interoperable single digital economic market across the Tasman.

eInvoicing helps to:
- facilitate trade and streamline transactions between Australia and New Zealand
- boost efficiency and productivity
- reduce costs of doing business for businesses and governments
- improve protections against scams.
Who manages the program
The Australia and New Zealand Electronic Invoicing Board administers the arrangement.
- The ATO manages the eInvoicing program in Australia.
- The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment runs New Zealand’s program.
