Government response to the Board of Taxation’s Review of the tax treatment of digital assets and transactions in Australia

On 21 March 2025, the Hon Jim Chalmers MP, Treasurer and the Hon Stephen Jones MP, Assistant Treasurer released the Government's response to the Board of Taxation’s Review of the tax treatment of digital assets and transactions in Australia.

This response addresses the government-specific recommendations. The remaining recommendations are directed to the Australian Taxation Office as the administrator of Australia’s taxation laws.
