This table explains changes to the Franchising Code of Conduct. The changes start from 1 April 2025.

Key changes to the Code

The Franchising Code of Conduct was recently remade.

The new Code is similar to the current 2014 Code but has some changes. Key changes include:

  • simpler rules and formatting
  • easier pre‑entry and renewal processes
  • faster termination for serious misconduct
  • better protections for franchisees
  • more ways to encourage good behaviour.

Changes to the Franchise Disclosure Register

Franchisors must complete new fields for their profile. The information for these fields is already part of franchisor disclosure documents.

Franchisors cannot upload a Key Facts Sheet and Disclosure Document to their profile. Franchisors that already uploaded these documents do not need to remove them from the Register. The public cannot view these documents from 1 April 2025.

The government will release technical guidance on 1 April 2025.
