On Friday 8 November 2013, the Government announced the abolition of a number of non-statutory bodies, including the National Housing Supply Council (the Council), where activities are no longer needed.

The Council produced State of Supply reports on housing supply and demand, and housing affordability.

The Council had decided to release the 2013-14 State of Supply Report in stages.   The first stage of the report The National Housing Supply Council State of Supply Report: Changes in how we live is three chapters – which were completed prior to the Council's abolition.
