On 20 December, the Government announced a review of the Australian Business Securitisation Fund Act 2019 (the Act). The Act established the Australian Business Securitisation Fund to increase the availability and reduce the cost of finance for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by investing in debt securities of SME lenders. The Government is required to undertake a review of the Act as soon as possible two and five years after its commencement.

As part of this review Treasury will consult with relevant stakeholders on the issues outlined in the terms of reference. A consultation paper is also available on the Treasury website and interested parties are invited to comment on the issues raised in this paper by 4 February 2022.
