Key Documents

In June 2021, the Government passed legislation to establish a mandatory scheme for the sharing of motor vehicle service and repair information. This demonstrates the Government's commitment to a competitive automotive sector in Australia, by ensuring a level playing field for all participants – repairers, consumers, dealers, and manufacturers. This includes providing independent repairers with fair access to the information they need to do their job.

The Government has now released exposure draft rules to support the mandatory scheme for consultation. The rules set out additional information to support the scheme's implementation and operation.
