APRA Board Member
The Government is seeking applications for the role of Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Board Member.
A Member of APRA is an independent statutory office holder. As a member of the Executive Board, the Member shares in the overall responsibility for the oversight and management of all APRA's activities and responsibilities. The role is full-time.
As well as collective responsibility for the goals, priorities and strategies of the organisation as a whole, APRA Members each take lead responsibility for the oversight of certain aspects of APRA's operations.
The new Member will need to have extensive knowledge and experience of the financial system and regulation. They should also display a strong understanding of financial and operational risk management in financial institutions, and the role played by APRA.
It will be desirable that the new Member has held a senior executive position within the financial sector, with demonstrated strong strategic and commercial acumen. The Member must have sufficient experience and expertise to generate credibility and respect when leading APRA's discussion with industry CEOs and Boards, as well as with government, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
