Financial Innovation Strategy

This strategy sets out a shared vision for financial innovation. It connects existing initiatives to make the financial system more competitive and innovative.

Background

The independent review of the Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox recommended developing this strategy to:

• outline the government's overarching plan for financial innovation
• give industry, regulators and government a common understanding of objectives
• coordinate efforts.

Financial Innovation Committee

Treasury is seeking expressions of interest from experienced financial sector leaders and experts to join the new Financial Innovation Committee. Establishing the Committee will fulfil a commitment under the Government’s Financial Innovation Strategy, released in September 2026.

The Committee will bring together government, financial regulators and industry to identify and prioritise opportunities to support financial innovation and improve policy, regulatory and market outcomes.
