Net Zero - Built Environment Sector Plan

The Australian Government is committed to achieving our 2035 target of 62–70% below 2005 levels and net zero by 2050. This will create new opportunities for businesses, households and workers across Australia.

The Built Environment Sector Plan is one of 6 sector plans under the Australian Government’s Net Zero Plan and charts the built environment sector’s pathway to net zero by 2050.

The government’s Net Zero Plan outlines 5 priority areas for action:

• decarbonising and expanding the electricity network
• electrification wherever possible
• switching to low–carbon fuels
• technology innovation
• carbon removals.
