The Prime Minister has released a statement announcing that Dr Martin Parkinson AC PSM will conclude his tenure as Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet on 30 August 2019. As many of you know, Martin has had a distinguished career in the Australian Public Service, including as Treasury Secretary and Secretary of the Department of Climate Change.
The Prime Minister has also announced my appointment as Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to take effect from Monday 2 September. Dr Steven Kennedy PSM will be appointed as my successor as Secretary of the Treasury.
Being Secretary of the Treasury and leading the Department is an enormous privilege and I will continue to thoroughly enjoy my current responsibilities until joining PM&C. The confidence shown in me to undertake this new role is also a positive reflection on the performance of all staff in this Department.
