The Prime Minister has released a statement announcing my resignation as Secretary to the Treasury and the appointment of Phil Gaetjens as my successor.
My last day in Treasury will be 31 July – just over three and a half years into my second stint in the Treasury.
I did not seek this position but I’m very glad I accepted the role. Treasury is a great institution and I think we have made some big steps in the last few years, not only policy achievements but how we organise ourselves.
After a Treasury career spanning more than 25 years, interrupted by 22 years in the private sector, I’m ready for some new adventures but I shall always remember my years with the Treasury – and my colleagues in all areas – with great fondness.
