The Treasurer announced an Inquiry into Future Directions for the Consumer Data Right (the Inquiry) on 23 January 2020.

The Inquiry was led by Mr Scott Farrell and supported by a secretariat located within Treasury.

The Final Report was published on 23 December 2020, and was informed by broad consultation with industry, consumer and privacy advocates, and other interested parties.

On 14 December 2021, the Government released its response to the Inquiry, in which it commits to significantly strengthen and deepen the CDR’s functionality and use through the implementation of third-party action and payment initiation reforms.
