Consultation on the issues

23 March - 30 April 2018

Initial public consultation was open from 23 March 2018 until 30 April 2018.

The Review received feedback from over 30 stakeholders, who provided comment on whether the Grocery Code has been effective in improving the way the supermarkets (and wholesalers) deal with their suppliers. Initial comments have informed development of a draft report and recommendations to Government.

Professor Graeme Samuel AC presented his indicative findings from the initial stage of consultation on the issues at the Food and Grocery Conference Australia 2018 on 23 May 2018. This will form the basis of the draft report.

Draft report consultation

2 July 2018 - 1 August 2018

The draft report was released for public consultations on Monday 2 July 2018, closing on Wednesday 1 August 2018.

The draft report makes a number of findings and recommendations that ensure the Grocery Code continues working effectively for the food and grocery industry.

The Review wishes to test its recommendations and findings with the industry and other stakeholders. This is in recognition of the fact that the Grocery Code has been designed in partnership with the food and grocery industry to address its specific issues.
