The Youpla Group Funeral Benefits Program closed on 30 June 2024
On 30 June 2024 applications to the Youpla Group Funeral Benefits Program closed.
The Youpla Group, also called the Aboriginal Community Benefit Fund (ACBF), collapsed in March 2022.
The Youpla Group Funeral Benefits Program helped the families of fund members affected by the collapse to conduct Sorry Business with dignity.
Through the program, the Australian Government paid a grant in place of a funeral benefit that would otherwise have been paid by the Youpla Group before its collapse.
Youpla Support Program
On 8 February 2024, the Australian Government announced that the Youpla Support Program will replace the Youpla Group Funeral Benefits Program from 1 July 2024.
Payments
If a person paid for a ACBF/Youpla policy on or after 1 August 2015 they may be eligible for a payment from the Youpla Support Program.
This payment will be just over half the money you paid (60 per cent) for the ACBF/Youpla policy, up to the benefit limit.
The payment can either be a cash payout or a funeral bond.
What happens next
Former ACBF/Youpla members can wait for Services Australia to contact you.
